The course of true love doesn't always run straight.
Died-in-the-wool New Yorker Rachel (Helen Lesnick) moves to San Diego looking for a new life and a new romance. That's where her supportive PFLAG parents live. Rachel is surprised to find how they've adapted to the laid back California scene, and totally shocked when her mom (Arlene Golonka, The In Laws) wants to set her up on a blind date. At first she refuses, but eventually Rachel lets her mother introduce her to Christine (Erica Shaffer, Three On A Match). Soon, she finds herself in a real romance. But just when the two women begin to plan their wedding, Rachel's old flame Reggie (Michele Green, L.A. Law) makes a comeback attempt....
Full of sharply-edged humor and hilariously awkward family situations, A FAMILY AFFAIR is, as Curve Magazine described, "full of comic treats that keep the pace rolling in this impressive debut." Welcomed by sold-out audiences and rave reviews at over 50 film festivals worldwide, A FAMILY AFFAIR is the most popular lesbian romantic comedy in years. Director/star Helen Lesnick was hailed by Variety as "a budding talent," and described the film as a "Woody Allen trifecta reconfigured with sharp wit.Lesnick, like (Allen), defends herself with caustically dry humor." The film won top honors at four film festivals, including the gay and lesbian film festivals in Philadelphia, Phoenix, Barcelona and Madrid. |
